O grande jogo do Ártico: reflexões a partir da perspectiva econômica à tutela ambiental

O Ártico é uma das maiores regiões do planeta, com relevância econômica em razão de suas riquezas minerais e localização estratégica. Localizado entre os continentes da Euroásia e da América, concentra grande fluxo de comércio internacional. O aquecimento global está intensificando o degelo do polo Ártico, abrindo a possibilidade da região se transformar em opção estratégica de navegação marítima. O presente artigo tem como objetivo analisar o regime jurídico que disciplina o Polo Ártico e sua importância para regulação da utilização da região como rota marítima. Para tanto, serão analisadas suas características geográficas, a origem e os motivos das disputas internacionais que visam delimitar e reconhecer o domínio sobre a região, traçando-se um comparativo com o regime internacional que rege e tutela a Antártida. O presente estudo possibilitará concluir que a região Ártica não possui um regime jurídico específico, que seja capaz de disciplinar sua exploração econômica, dificultando sua tutela ambiental.References
