A segunda parte da quinta sessão da Conferência Intergovernamental (IGC) para a negociação do Tratado sobre a conservação e o uso sustentável da biodiversidade marinha em áreas além da jurisdição nacional (BBNJ), foi realizada entre os dias 20 de fevereiro e 04 de março de 2023, na sede das Nações Unidas, em Nova York. A IGC-5.2 concluiu o texto final do documento no sábado à noite, após longas horas de negociação em formatos diferentes: plenárias, pequenos grupos (small groups), reuniões bilaterais entre Estados e/ou grupos, consultas com a Presidente e reunião em sala fechada com delegados e a Presidente. O Tratado regula os seguintes temas: recursos genéticos marinhos (MGRs da sigla em inglês) e repartição de benefícios (ABS, da sigla em inglês); ferramentas de gestão baseadas em área/medidas de manejo baseadas em áreas (ABMT, da sigla em inglês) incluindo áreas marinhas protegidas (MPAs, da sigla em inglês); avaliação de impactos ambientais (EIA da sigla em inglês); capacitação e transferência de tecnologias marinhas (CBTMT, da sigla em inglês); e assuntos transversais (CCIs, da sigla em inglês). A crônica abordará os pontos principais das partes citadas, bem como os destaques da negociação.Downloads
