Abstract

This short essay aims at critically analyzing the United Nation’s peacebuilding model in East Timor. As such, it will initially delineate the theorization around the key pillar of this model, the state-building. In a second moment, it will be observed and problematized the materialization of this political-constitutional dimension in the case of East Timor. The essay ends with some final notes and evincing that this model did not resulte in a sustainable peace in East Timor.
