Abstract

The approach to the Muslim riots in North Africa and the Middle East lacks commitment by Western analysts. The theoretical frameworks used to study these movements are the standard eurocentric-modern freedom and democracy. The consequences of such short-sighted analysis range from pessimistic or optimistic conclusions naive ideological. Fit criteria for the recognition and translation to identify political and legal values, and linked to participatory citizenship, characteristic of the Islamic tradition.
